Computer science at the Venice Biennale#

Alexandru Nicolau, a member of the Informatics section of Academia Europaea, together with Alexander Veidenbaum, UCI professor of computer science and Israeli-Romanian artist Belu-Simion Fainaru, created three art installations at the Venice Biennale.

Under the title “Unfinished Conversations on the Weight of Absence,” all three works are examples of posthumanist art that combines computer-generated imagery and speech, using artificial intelligence to create an interactive experience for the viewer that aims to be both thought-provoking and emotionally involving, according to Nicolau.
