December 9th, 2015 DISPUTATIO OF BARCELONA 2015 Natural vs. Artificial Intelligence#
At the Royal Chapel of St. Agatha, Gothic Quartier
1. Disputatio Debate (18.00 h - 19.30 h) Two scholars presented their views in this modernday Disputatio. The disputantes were Núria Sebastián, UPF, “Human Intelligence: Language to begin with”, and Ulises Cortés, UPC, “Artificial Intelligence: What’s in a name?”
2. Concert by distinguished soprano Lídia Pujol (20.00 h - 21.00 h) “The music and concepts of Ramon Llull (1232-1316)”. Lídia Pujol, voice, M. Àngel Cordero, double bass and voice, and Pau Figueres, guitar. Lídia Pujol sung fourteen songs in Catalan, Occitan, Latin, Spanish and Italian. The concert was held in the church (the Royal Chapel) were kings and queens of Aragon had been baptised and got married since the 14th c. The lovely voice of Lídia Pujol, the accompanying instruments and the adequate lights captivated and impressed the audience.

Speakers: Anne Buttimer, Amadeu Viana, Marc Mayer, Víctor González Galera, Naba Barkakati, Xavier Maymó, Salvador Giner. Homage to José Mariano Gago (1948-2015): Rosalia Vargas, Enric Banda, Ricard Guerrero.2. Visit to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center “Mare Nostrum”. (At the BSC, 18.00 h – 20.00 h). Convenor to the visit: Oliver Riu, BSC-UPC. Speaker: Alexander Fidora, YAE, ICREA, UAB: “Ramon Llull, proto-European, and proto-founder of computational sciences”. Both the visit to the centre premises (a former church), and the lecture by Prof. Fidora, talking about the combinatory Art of Ramon Llull in front of the supercomputer, one of the largest in the world, captured the attention of the visitors.
