Frontiers in Translational Medicine Workshop#

Professor Peter Hegyi, member of the Clinical and Veterinary Science section of Academia Europaea, will be hosting a workshop on Frontiers in Translational Medicine at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest, Hungary on 23rd-24th September 2019.

Professor Hegyi is the Director of the Centre for Translational Medicine in the Medical School at the University of Pécs and was elected to the Academia Europaea in 2018.

FRONTIERS IN TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE#

Translational Medicine (TM) is the breakthrough of medical research in the 21st century. Translational Medicine will improve prevention, diagnostics, thequality and the cost-effectiveness of the whole healthcare system. Its focus is the patient and their care. However, there are many neglected aspects and hidden difficulties in the field which impede its development.

In this project, we wish to

• identify the problems and challenges
• set up recommendations which can facilitate the field
• develop a complex, integrated system of terminology and definitions

We believe that the outcome of this consensus meeting will significantly help basic- and clinical researchers, healthcare professionals, academics,universities, grant committees, journals, and political or economic decision-makers to facilitate the transfer of scientific knowledge to the care of patients.

The consensus meeting will be held in Budapest, Hungary between 23-24 September, 2019.
